Sasol, in partnership with the Sasol Foundation, offers a diverse portfolio of funding, development, and work-integrated learning opportunities designed to build high-demand skills across South Africa. Below is a structured summary of active, upcoming, and recurring Sasol youth initiatives.

1. Sasol Mining Fence-line Bursary Programme

Application Window: 24 August – 13 September 2026

Target Group: South African citizens (by birth only) residing permanently within Sasol Mining fence-line communities.

Eligible Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degrees (B.Eng / B.Sc.): Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Mechanical, and Mining Engineering; Geology (requires Honours); Data Science.

• University of Technology Degree: B.Eng. Tech. in Mine Surveying (University of Johannesburg only).

• Note: Distance learning (e.g., UNISA), dual/hybrid degrees, and general diplomas are strictly excluded.

Minimum Academic Thresholds

• B.Eng. / B.Sc. Applicants: Minimum 70% (Level 6) in Pure Mathematics and Physical Science; minimum 60% (Level 5) in English.

• B.Eng. Tech. (Mine Surveying): Minimum 60% (Level 5) in Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, and English.

• Enrolled University Students: Must hold a minimum overall academic average of 60% across all modules.

2. Sasol Foundation Bursary Programme

Target Group: South African citizens (by birth only) who are children of Sasol employees, Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders, or candidates from designated fence-line communities.

• STEM Track: Covers full-time undergraduate degrees in Green Economy and Digitalisation disciplines (Engineering, IT, Data Science, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Medical Sciences).

• Non-STEM Track: Available exclusively to qualifying fence-line candidates pursuing approved non-STEM undergraduate degrees.

• Financial Threshold: Maximum household income limit of R800,000 per annum.

• Age Limit: Applicants must not be older than 25 years of age.

3. Sasol Graduate Development Programme

Application Window: 14 September – 4 October 2026

A structured 36-month corporate initiative designed for engineering and science graduates. The programme delivers industry-aligned rotational training, technical development, and business exposure across Sasol’s operational facilities.

4. Sasol Postgraduate Bursaries (M.Sc. / M.Eng. / Ph.D.)

Dedicated funding is awarded for advanced research in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cyber Security, and Data Science. Research projects must directly support Sasol and South Africa’s transition to green energy and a circular economy (e.g., Catalysis, Separations, Fluid Dynamics, Air/Water Environmental Science).

Core Application Requirements & Rules

• Citizenship: Open strictly to South African citizens.

• Mathematics Requirement: Mathematical Literacy and Technical Mathematics are not accepted.

• Testing: Shortlisted candidates must undergo compulsory online psychometric assessments prior to interview stages.

• Contractual Commitment: Mainstream and Mining bursaries include performance-based work-back/pay-back agreements.
