Transnet’s WIL Trainee Programme gives students and recent graduates 18 months of practical workplace experience. You apply classroom knowledge in a real environment, with hands-on work, mentorship and industry exposure to improve employability.

Shared requirements (both streams)

• Matric (or equivalent)
• South African citizen
• Aged 18–35
• No bursary obligation with another company
• Preference for people with disabilities
• Most recent confirmation / letter from your institution
• Certified copies of Matric certificate, academic record and ID

Shared typical outputs

• Assist on projects within a department or work-stream
• Perform routine operational tasks under supervision
• Support admin, documentation and reporting
• Attend training, workshops and mentorship
• Shadow experienced staff
• Problem-solve and build analytical skills
• Engage with customers, suppliers and internal teams
• Report on task and project progress
• Act as a contact point for queries
• Support research, data collection and analysis
• Prepare reports and presentations in MS Office
• Help with process improvement
• Follow company policies, procedures and safety rules
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards

Stream 1: Human Resource Management

Qualification: Completed all theoretical subjects N4–N6 in Human Resource Management
