This Group Audit Committee–mandated role provides continuous financial control over the CIB balance sheet and income statement across the Standard Bank Group (South Africa and Africa Regions). The focus is proactive IFRS compliance to prevent misstatements, audit findings and restatements, linking IFRS advisory with operational implementation to protect the Group’s reputation and financial stability.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Finance and Accounting, Mathematical Sciences or Quantitative Studies
• CA (SA) / CFA / FRM (as listed under licences & certifications)

Experience required

• 5–7 years’ operational finance experience covering product control and internal financial control, with a strong grasp of financial systems and data flows from source systems to the ledger
• Completed articles at a reputable public practice audit firm (audit methodologies, IRBA expectations, work with external auditors)
• More than 10 years’ senior-level experience in technical accounting and IFRS in the CIB sector of a large financial institution
• Proven track record in a similar assurance or high-level technical accounting role, with significant exposure to complex financial products and global markets
• Demonstrated expertise in applying and operationalising IFRS in a banking environment, including CIB transactions
